Discover the 4DGS,
The Gaussian Splatting Video

Discover 4DGS (the Gaussian Splatting of the video) through the portrait of a dance diva: Carole Debenath

Effigy had the opportunity to work with Carole, who came to the studio in authentic cabaret costumes to shoot some 4DGS sequences using volumetric capture. We wanted to test the potential and limitations of our new volumetric capture system; ;
These shoots were more like 4DGS stress tests than simple digitization, with several significant technical challenges; the fineness and movement of feathers, transparencies, reflection of pearls, hair, smoke, fine fishnet stockings… and with the studio's 50 genlocked 4k cameras, the result exceeded our expectations, we're really at video visual quality, but in full 3D!
The video data was processed by Gracia AI who aligned and encoded them in .MINT format, with significant compression for smoother performance. A simple drag and drop into Unity or Unreal Engine, and the animations are ready to use.
On screen, and even more so in a Virtual Reality headset, the high resolution of the 3d volumes animated at 60fps reinforces this disturbing feeling of Carole's digital presence.
The Effigy 4DGS Capture studio is modular in size and layout, operates without a green screen, and can be moved and installed anywhere in Europe.
